I’m Ivania from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I used to work in fashion there.
I moved permanently to the United Kingdom in 2019; before that, I had only visited a few times (I meet my husband in Brazil so visited him a few times before we decided to get married) in 2019.
I started at Letim (now LEAH) in 2020 with online classes, It was my husband who found Letim Classes on Facebook and contacted them so started E1 class with teacher Linda. After the COVID lockdown ended, I started in-person classes with teacher Catarina. My daughter used to attend Letim’s creche; she loved it and still remembers fondly the ladies who took care of her there. Conversation classes were my favorite; I loved when we came back from vacation and everyone talked about what we had done during the holidays , this helped in understanding different accents since most of the students came from different countries, therefore had different accents.. But all the classes were enriching for me, helping to expand my vocabulary.
I didn’t make lifelong friends, but my interactions with everyone were extremely friendly. All the different levels I went through until reaching Level E3, all the students were very friendly and respectful to each other, for me besides learning English, it was very good to interact and learn with people from cultures very different from my own. Learning English with Letim has helped me a lot in social interactions; for example, before I always needed to go to my medical appointments with someone, but now I can do it alone.
I started my own business a while ago, online sales, even though it’s online this is becoming very busy, so unfortunately I won’t be attending classes anymore. Improving my English with Letim class, it helped me a lot with that, because I can communicate and write better now.
