On 4 November, a small group from LEAH enjoyed a lovely morning at the beautiful Ham House in Richmond, taking part in a special Christmas craft workshop.
We were delighted to be invited to make paper feathers for Ham House’s 2026 Christmas experience, The Robin’s Tale, celebrating all things bird-themed.
Our group included LEAH’s Office Manager Ruth, two of our learners, Bik and Ankica, and volunteer Claire-Louise. Ruth’s daughter Libby also joined, as part of her workplace’s Community Day scheme.
With expert guidance from Sally, Ham House’s Senior Visitor Experience Officer, everyone had the chance to try their hand at making decorative paper feathers using paper, wire and glue.
It was a lovely opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get creative and enjoy spending time together in a beautiful historic setting. There were lots of laughs, and some lovely biscuits too!
At LEAH, we know that learning English is about much more than language lessons. Experiences like this help our learners explore their local community, build confidence and try new things.
We’re delighted that our group’s creations will help form part of Ham House’s Christmas decorations, and look forward to visiting again in December to see the house once it is fully decorated!
A big thank you to Sally and everyone at Ham House for their warm welcome, and for making this special morning possible.
