Classes in Merton

We provide free English lessons to adults living in and around the London borough of Merton.

Lessons are offered to learners in their own homes or in our group classes, which follow the ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) curriculum.

We offer lessons for people who are not able to get to formal college classes, because of cost, family situation or disability and who may become isolated at home.

Our classes are held mostly at Vestry Hall in Mitcham.  We also run classes at Canons House in Mitcham, local schools and the YMCA Wimbledon.

We offer creche facilities for some of our classes.

Conversation Classes

Our conversation class ‘Chatwell’ takes place on Wednesday afternoons for level E2 and above.  Our Thursdays afternoon conversation class is for elementary level learners.
Conversation classes at LEAH cover reading, writing and speaking but in a more conversational way than the formal classes.
Classes are suitable for the level of the learners in the class.  They are run by volunteers who are training and experienced in English language teaching.  The main goal is to improve and practice English speaking and gain confidence in a range of topics.

Our Creche

Our Sessional Crèche is led by Lizzie McCarthy who is an experienced childcare practitioner and has a Level 3 Childcare qualification and three other qualified sessional crèche staff.
