Cynthia got in touch with LEAH in 2020, and has been a valued part of our community ever since.
Balancing travels, family life, and other community work, she has woven volunteering into a full and busy life – supporting two learners for a year each, and four more over periods of at least 6 months, bringing the same warmth and dedication to every lesson.
There are a few things that make Cynthia particularly special and one of them is her passion for poetry. A living proof that verse has a place at every level of language learning, she has shown how poetry can be a surprisingly powerful tool in ESOL lessons – opening up rhythm, vocabulary, and expression in ways that more traditional approaches sometimes can’t.
Kind, warm, and endlessly generous with her time and knowledge, Cynthia is exactly the kind of volunteer who makes LEAH what it is.
