Types of lessons

Our lessons take many forms.

home

Learn at home

Our 1:1 classes

LEAH clients are paired with a trained LEAH volunteer to support them with their English, learn about vital local services and support integration into local communities.

LEAH’s one to one service is for clients who are unable or would struggle to leave the home to learn because of health reasons, caring responsibilities or past trauma.

You can read our referral criteria here.

Our 1:1 service is delivered online via Zoom, by phone and in homes, refuges, hostels and community spaces.

Please note that we only provide face to face lessons in Kingston, Richmond or Hounslow.

Learn in a class

Our group community classes

We run online and community classes for clients to progress from our one to one service and for clients who feel able to learn in a group setting.

Our classes focus on health and wellbeing and on developing English language skills. We also focus on building confidence, progression and integration.

We support clients who are not able to join a college course because of caring responsibilities, young children, health difficulties or complex backgrounds. LEAH classes are a stepping stone to other community learning, college, volunteering or employment.

You can read our referral criteria here.

Our community classes are delivered online via Zoom and in community spaces.

Learn at work

Our workplace classes

We deliver courses for workers who have limited English and would like support to progress in the workplace. Sessions take place at the business. We tailor classes to suit the individual needs of workers and support businesses to improve the level of English of their workforce.

Trips and Visits

Our group events

Our group events help clients to develop their social networks, reduce their isolation, learn more about their local community and practise their English. We run a programme of trips to places such as the New Orleans House Gallery and Kew Gardens and less formal events such as coffee mornings.
