Wellbeing ESOL lessons
These lesson plans and accompanying resources are designed for students at ESOL Entry Level 1. They have been designed so you can deliver lessons either one to one, in a class, face to face or online. The resources can be used with learners who may be using a smartphone. All documents are in Word so you can adapt them to meet the needs of your learner.
They cover the five topics:
- Exercise
- Feelings
- Healthy eating
- Sleep
- Volunteering
Exercise
By the end of this lesson, you would like your student/s to be able to:
- list up to 9 different kinds of exercise that are free and easy to do.
- list the benefits of exercise for body, mind and emotions.
- comprehend and answer 6 questions about a text on the benefits of exercise.
Feelings
By the end of this lesson, you would like your student/s to be able to:
- introduce basic emotions and develop vocabulary related to feelings.
- practice identifying and expressing emotions.
- ask and answer questions about one’s feelings.
Healthy eating
By the end of this lesson, you would like your student/s to be able to:
- understand 8 basic guidelines for healthy eating.
- sort food items into healthy and unhealthy food groups.
- define some key vocabulary around healthy eating.
Sleep
By the end of this lesson, you would like your student/s to be able to:
- introduce basic vocabulary related to sleeping.
- practice talking about sleeping.
- learn tips about improving one’s sleeping patterns.
Volunteering
By the end of this lesson, you would like your student/s to be able to:
- list 6 ways volunteering can enhance your life.
- write 6 sentences about different volunteering roles.
- read about a volunteer’s role and answer 6 questions.
- navigate and find information on two volunteering websites.
